Important Places for Tourism
Liberty Bell hung in the hall in 1753 to "proclaim liberty throughout all the
land unto all the inhabitants." It rung on July 1776 to proclaim the declaration of independence. It was hidden
during British occupation of Philadelphia in Allentown 1777-78. In 1781, it moved from steeple to hall's brick tower.
It cracked in 1835 tolling death of John Marshall in 1846.
